Williamsburg Flea

Another fab flea market day at the Brooklyn Flea in Williamsburg. The best part is all the puppy visits plus the enormous selection food in the Market....constantly grazing and spending our earnings. Its also great to get connected to all the our friends and customers. Nikole's brother Christian is now supplying us with lots of mid Century end tables and such and we ill be there every 2 weeks over the summer.

STRIPED BLANKETS

ALOT OF OLD BLANKETS WERE MADE ON SMALL LOOMS AND THE PANELS HAD TO BE STITCHED TOGETHER TO MAKE BIGGER BLANKETS, THEY ARE OFTEN MISMATCHED BUT HAVE TONS OF CHARM. THEY CAN STILL BE CHEAP AND ADD SOME DASH TO A MODERN CHAIR OR SOFA

Doggy Bowl Idea

Instead of buying from China, why not use some mis matched china out of the cupboard for your 4 legged friends.
Here we use White ironstone from the late 1880s, we bought all of this online for way cheaper than at Petco...just a thought

Some details from a recent SDGs visit to Merchants House in New York.

The Merchant’s House Museum is New York City’s only family home preserved intact — inside and out — from the 19th century. Built in 1832 just steps from Washington Square, this elegant red-brick and white-marble row house on East Fourth Street was home to a prosperous merchant family for almost 100 years.Complete with the family’s original furnishings and personal possessions, the house offers a rare and intimate glimpse of domestic life in New York City from 1835-1865.

We normally try our hardest to not blog about anything to do with fashion but when I stumbled across this new denim brand I couldn't help but want to share. Not only do I love the look and feel of their vintage inspired line and lookbook, but these guys also partner with the Intertribal Buffalo Council (ITBC), a non-profit organization established in 1990 to coordinate and assist American Indian tribes returning the buffalo to their native lands.

Creating cool ideas with crates is easy

Under-Bed Storage
Many wooden boxes are the perfect size for sliding under a bed. Use them to compartmentalize objects normally stored there, such as children's toys or board games.
Planters
Using a wooden box as a planter will make an unconventional and stylish addition to any room in the house. Simply fill the box with topsoil and put it somewhere with plenty of sunlight.
Wall-Mounted Storage
Instead of boring wall-mounted storage made of particleboard, a group of wooden crates mounted on the wall will provide a visually pleasing and rustic storage or display area. Try arranging them in a square, a rectangle or an unconventional shape.
Stacked for a Bookcase
Making a bookcase out of stacked crates is a technique commonly used by minimalistic decorators or apartment-dwellers. However, if done with some thought, a bookcase made of stacked wooden crates and boxes can add style and personality to any room.
Pet Feeders
If the box has a closed top, cut two circular holes in it and place metal bowls in each one for food and water. Dogs and cats can eat in style, too.
Ottoman
If you have a wooden box or crate that is the right size, it can make the perfect footrest. There is no underestimating the added comfort that an ottoman can bring to your living room.

At the age of 72, Mary Delany embarked on a series of 1000 botanical collages or "paper Mosaicks" in the 1770's, that would prove to be her crowning achievement. These delicate hand cut florals made by a method of Mrs Delanys invention are of the finest botanical quality that inspire even today.
